WORKPLACE is delighted to announce on the side a group exhibition of new and recent work by Agnes Calf, Noel Clueit, Phil Frankland and Susie Green at its Gateshead gallery, opening in mid September 2016.
Agnes Calf was born 1984 in Edinburgh, studied at Edinburgh College of Art and lives and works between Cornwall and London. The artistmakes work as a number of artists, and as such has several origins, birth dates and study histories. Recent group exhibitions include Seminal Bricolage (First Attempt), Like a Little Disaster / Foothold Gallery, Polignano a Mare, Italy; Good things come, Plymouth College of Art Gallery; Into the Sea, Dace Road Space, London; Small bird’s nest with blue eggs inside, MMX Gallery, London; Best in Show, 55 Southwark Street, London; Faux Sho, Assembly House, Leeds; Oriel Davies Open, Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown; and Points of Contact, no format gallery, London. Agnes was a prizewinner at the Creekside Open (selected by Ceri Hand) in 2013 and was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries in 2013 presented at ICA, London and Spike Island, Bristol.
Noel Clueit was born in 1984, and lives and works in Manchester, UK. Recent exhibitions include: NEON The Charged Line Grundy Art Gallery Blackpool; : / Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool (solo); The Whole Wide World International3, Salford; Business as usual Turf Projects, London; Towards Monumental Sculpture Bureau, Manchester (solo); Seeing In The Dark CIRCA Projects, Newcastle Upon Tyne; Double Double Workplace Gallery, Gateshead. In 2015 Clueit undertook the 12 month residency programme The Syllabus working with Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge; Spike Island, Bristol; New Contemporaries, Nottingham; S1, Sheffield; Eastside Projects, Birmingham; Studio Voltaire, London.
Phil Frankland was born in 1991 in Douglas, Isle of Man. Frankland graduated from Newcastle University in 2014 and is currently studying on the Masters programme at The Royal School of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent, Belgium. Recent Exhibitions include Rubbernecker, The Byker Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, Combed into a Pile, Lime Street Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, Surfacing, Duncan Street, Leeds and FloatArt, The Bargehouse, London.
Susie Green was born in 1979 in Shrewsbury, studied at Newcastle University and Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. She lives and works in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Recent exhibitions and performances include End Cycle (with Rory Pilgrim) Flat Time House, London, All Out of Love (with Simon Bayliss) Tate St Ives, Nemoralia, Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh, Fluid Medium, Spike Island, Bristol, The Decorator and the Thief, NGCA Sunderland, EXHIBITION, CIRCA projects, Workplace Gallery, Gateshead, Space Time: The Future, Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge, New Contemporaries, Cornerhouse, Manchester & A Foundation, London. Forthcoming projects include Dwarling, My Darling performance with Rory Pilgrim, Oude Kerk, Amsterdam, Bodycon, Malvern House, London. and a solo exhibition at Grand Union, Birmingham, 2017.
