Inspired by the language of cinema, Lancaster's work explores the interplay between reality and illusion. Using ordinary household items to create Foley sound effects and moving image, Treacle playfully constructs a sense of disorientation and mystery in the central stairwell at Tyneside Cinema. Rachel Lancaster was one of the Pixel Pallace Artists in Residence at the Tyneside Cinema in Autumn 2011.
